Skijoring - How to Get Started by Connie Dubay

IFSS World Championship 2001

Equipment for skijoring can be as simple as a harness, a rope, and a pair of skis, but a more sophisticated setup will be safer and more comfortable and will provide a more pleasurable experience.

The products that we carry and recommend for skijoring are the Cold Spot Feeds Harness, the Skijor Line, and the panic snap, and for beginners we highly recommend them buying the book “Skijor with Your Dog”

Skijorline
Quick release snap Book

Our belts are lightweight rip stop nylon over closed-cell padding. Wide design with leg straps that keep the belt low on your waist and buttocks. Free-floating bridle to help your balance when dogs run to the side.Skijor belt Remember to measure over the jacket you'll be wearing. We recommend a quick release (panic snap)if there are any concerns about your dog's ability to stop.

Our skijor lines are an 8-strand polyethylene rope with an inner core of arctic shock cord. Includes single tug with a 5/8 inch Italian bronze snap. Overall length 7 1/2'.

For a single dog, the line goes directly from the skijorer to the dog. Two dogs can be arranged either side-by-side (generally with their collars connected with a neckline) or single file.
